Maria del Pilar Rubio, Esq.

Maria del Pilar Rubio is a prominent Miami based attorney handling the needs of high-net-worth clients and cross-border families. Based on her achievements in her profession and her engagement in the community, in 2017 Pilar was featured as a Top 20 Professional Under 40 in Brickell Magazine. Subsequently in 2021, Pilar was again recognized by a group of her peers, as deserving of the nomination for Best Lawyer: Ones To Watch by the regional and international publication Best Lawyers.

Pilar has a great deal of experience which includes advising on international and domestic trust and estate planning, pre-immigration planning, expatriation planning, international reporting and compliance, offshore voluntary compliance, and acquisition, maintenance, and sale of U.S. real estate by foreigners. Pilar’s years of practice also include drafting estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, and ancillary documents.

Her dedication and commitment to the practice of law earned Pilar various opportunities as a panelist and speaker. Among them being the opportunity to be speaker in front of the Overseas Property Professionals, in London in November 2014. There Pilar spoke about the topics of, “Opportunities Through Emigration,” and “Opportunities in USA and Canada – Hot or Overheated?” A little over a year later, in 2016, Pilar attended the SunTrust International Wealth Conference and provided regulatory updates on FATCA and CRS regimes. Then, in 2017 in her home city of Bogota, Pilar shared her perspective in the conference “Reforma Tributaria Ley 1819 de 2016 y su impacto en Empresas de Familia.”

Pilar is a Florida barred attorney and is greatly involved in making an impact in the South Florida legal community. She is a member of the Tax Section of the American Bar Association, member of the Tax Section of the Florida Bar Association, and she has served as the Treasurer of the Colombian American Bar Association since 2019.
