Lia Catalina Lopez is an Afrocolombian attorney from Sincelejo, Sucre practicing in Miami, Florida. She is a proud graduate of the Universidad de Cartagena and received her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Florida International University College of Law. Lia is an in-house attorney for Wesco International Inc. (NYSE: WCC a Fortune 200 company. In her work as a commercial attorney, she regularly assesses business opportunities from a contractual risk and profitability perspective while interacting with Sales Financial Services, Audit, Taxation, Pricing, and other cross-functional departments.

Lia is active in the South Florida Legal community having served on the board of the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association, the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the Florida Bar, and as a board member of the American Constitution Society South Florida Lawyer Chapter.

She is passionate about law student and attorney mental health and openly discusses her journey with mental health challenges and the steps she’s taken to seek support. Lia serves on the board of the Florida Lawyers Assistance, Inc. (“FLA”) FLA is non-profit corporation that provides assistance to bar members who suffer from substance abuse, mental health, or other disorders which negatively affect their lives and careers.
