Paula Acuna
I was born to two Colombian parents, both from Cali, Colombia, I, however, was born in Miami, Florida. I am very connected to my culture, having grown up in a very Colombian family. I visit Colombia often, I love the people, the food, the dancing and the culture overall. I think that bad stuff aside, Colombia is a beautiful country that is rich in culture and traditions.
I found my love for the law in a particularly funny way. Since I was young, I was told that I would make a great attorney because of the way that I could argue my point and would not stop until I got my point across. This caused me to wonder if it would be a career path I would like to go in. Coming from an immigrant family, I also had the strong urge to help people in some way. That is partly the reason I am so interested in immigration law, though being born here, I know the struggles that immigrants face in this country and hope to one day be able to do several immigration cases pro bono.
However, being the daughter of two small business owners has also peeked my curiosity and interest in business. How businesses function, their day to day, their activities and regulation, and the concept of business. Business is everywhere, especially in South Florida and assisting businesses in their legal endeavors is something I know I would greatly enjoy.
I am extremely ambitious, I love to travel, I love to read English literature when time permits and of course, spend time with my family. I hope to one day be a successful immigration and business attorney practicing in South Florida in a law firm that is diverse in culture.
