We are excited to share that the Colombian-American Bar Association (COLBAR) has been highlighted in a recent article by the Daily Business Review for its remarkable growth and impact within the legal community. Established in Miami in 1995, COLBAR was initially a small group of about 30 members. However, the organization has experienced a significant increase in membership in recent years, now boasting over 150 members, with 80 new members joining this year alone.

This growth is largely due to COLBAR’s commitment to welcoming young attorneys seeking guidance and support as they embark on their legal careers. The organization’s efforts to reach out to law students and new attorneys, particularly through university partnerships, have played a crucial role in this expansion.

COLBAR, though primarily founded to support lawyers with ties to Colombia, has always been inclusive, welcoming attorneys of diverse backgrounds who share a connection to Colombia, either professionally or personally. This inclusiveness has allowed COLBAR to build a vibrant community of legal professionals from various corners of the industry, including judges, Big Law partners, public defenders, and solo practitioners.

The article also highlights the important role COLBAR plays in helping its members build connections within the legal profession. For many, it’s not just about networking but about finding a sense of community and overcoming challenges unique to Colombian-American attorneys.
